#ridehack: charging and preserving batteries

If you charge and store your battery properly, you will ensure that it continues to perform well for as long as possible. Because it is normal for your battery to wear out over the years, but taking good care of your battery will prevent faster wear.

Battery life

The average life of a battery is about 5 years. You will notice in time that the range decreases, just like with a battery of a phone. Are you looking for a replacement battery? These can be ordered at Fietsenwinkel.nl.

To get the most out of your battery, we have collected a few useful tips for charging, using and storing your e-bike battery.

Tips to charge your battery

  1. After receiving your Brinckers e-bike, you do not need to fully charge the battery the very first time. You can use it immediately if you want.
  2. After you have charged the battery, we recommend that you use the battery up to 80% the first few times and then fully charge it.
  3. We recommend that you do not always drain the battery 100% so that the battery lasts longer.
  4. Always charge the battery in a space between 10 ℃ and 30 ℃.
  5. Have you charged the battery? Remove the battery from the charger as soon as possible. It is not good for the battery to remain on the charger while it is fully charged.
  6. Never pull on the wires, always pull the plugs. This prevents wire damage.

Battery and temperature

The cells in the e-bike batteries are very sensitive to temperature. This applies to the use and charging of the battery, but also to its storage. A battery feels best at room temperature, but at least between 10 ° C and 30 ° C. Too cold or too hot: in both cases it will cause reduced performance of your battery. If it is very cold or warm outside, you can always choose to put a “jacket” around your battery (protective battery cover). This cover protects your battery and keeps it at the right temperature.

Preserving your battery

If you have no plans of using the battery of your Brinckers e-bike in the near future, keep the battery safe. You do this by charging the battery to 50% or higher before you store the battery. Have you not used the battery for 2 months? Then charge the battery again to 50% or higher. In addition, make sure that you always store the battery in a dry place at room temperature (approx. 15 ℃ to 25 ℃).
